Paula Welch Prather began her career at the Phoenix office of the Daily 
  Racing Form. Starting as a copy editor in 1993, she became the Special 
  Projects Editor in 1996. She was instrumental in producing the “Graded 
  Stakes Yearbook” and “Champions.” Paula stayed behind in her home town of 
  Phoenix when the DRF moved to New York, but has served as editor of the 
  American Racing Manual since the 2004 edition.
  Paula served as the US correspondent for the New Zealand Bloodhorse from 
  1999 through the cessation of the publication in 2008. From 2007 until the 
  report was discontinued after the 2014 edition, she worked with the ARCI to 
  produce their annual pari-mutuel statistics summary report. She has been 
  working with the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders Association in 2002 and 
  manages their website. 
  Currently, Paula is employed outside of the racing industry as a principal 
  software support analyst for Thomson Reuters.
  A December 1992 graduate of the Race Track Industry Program at the 
  University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, Paula also completed three years of 
  study in journalism at Arizona State University in Tempe.
